SARA M. GARCIA, 62, a resident of Española, formerly of Gallina, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Lugarda Carillo; father-in-law, Sixto Garcia and aunt, Melissa Gonzales. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband of 30 years, Wilbert Garcia of Española; sister, Lupita Salazar and husband Rudy of Hernandez; nephews she helped raise, Adam Valdez and companion Nina DeVargas of Alcalde and Jose Valdez of Santa Fe; God-son, Anthony Valdez; nieces, Kayla and Jasmine Valdez; close cousins, Martha Serrano, Doris Martinez, J.D. Gonzales, Beatrice Salazar and many cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Rudy Salazar, Adam Valdez, Andrew Tafoya, Anthony Valdez, Eric Archuleta and Rudy Salazar, Jr, honorary pallbearers, Jasmine Valdez, Kayla Valdez, and Jose Valdez.
