Sara Aragon

d. February 22, 2025

Sara Aragon, a cherished woman known for her motherly, caring, and outgoing character, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, and joined our Heavenly Father in eternal peace on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Born September 17, 1937, Sara lived a life filled with joy and love.

Sara was born to Antonio and Carmelinda Guccione and was raised in the small village of Gesuiti, Italy, until coming to the United States in 1958. She then met and fell in love with Martin Aragon of Salida, CO. They married and had five children. Together, they lived in Saguache, CO; Salida, CO; Albuquerque, NM; and Denver, CO, before finally settling in the beautiful Española Valley in New Mexico after Martin completed his master’s degree in Denver. She had a love for the outdoors and was known for having one of the most beautiful yards in northern New Mexico. Her flowerbeds, green lawns, and evergreen trees left viewers and passersby speechless. The vibrant colors that came from her gardens were a true expression of the love she had for life and nature. She loved recreation time in the mountains, mushroom hunting, fishing, snagging, picnicking, and camping.

Sara is preceded in death by her dear husband, Martin Aragon; parents, Antonio and Carmelinda Guccione; parents-in-law, Juan and Magdalena Aragon; son, Anthony Aragon; sister, Edith Cicerelli; brother, Mario Guccione; son-in-law, Mike Garcia; and granddaughter, Jessica Aragon.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Stephen) Quesada, Tom (Bernadette) Aragon, Linda (Mike, deceased) Garcia, and Carmela (Randy Trujillo) Aragon; siblings, Frank (Judy) Guccione, Teresa (Gildo, deceased) Giorno, Mary (Sonny, deceased) Churich, Rose (Randy Kuretich) Guccione, and Lena (Jerry) Leewaye; grandchildren, Victoria, Sarah, Christina, Brandon, Nathan, Savannah, and Vicente; and great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Benjamin III, Divinity, Caidence, Landin, Gianna, and Abram, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sara and Martin were godparents to Frank Giorno, David Vigil, Greg Schwitzer, and Rose Nance-Hoag.

Sara welcomed everyone into her home and into her heart. She was a mother and grandmother to all. Her greatest joy was cooking meals for her family, close friends, neighbors, and hundreds of her children’s and grandchildren’s friends who spent countless hours at her home over the last five decades. Her home was always flooded with laughter and love, but never an empty stomach. Her most precious memories consisted of the many cherished holiday gatherings, especially Christmas Eves celebrated in her home, surrounded by family.

Pallbearers: Vicente Garcia, Jeremy Garcia, Ray Griego, Ernest King, Ben Maynes, and Nathan Quesada.
