Santiago A. Maestas

Santiago A. Maestas, 91, a resident of Chili, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12th, 2015. He was born December 22, 1923 in Chamita, New Mexico. He was the son of Felipe and Julianita Maestas who preceded him in death as well his beloved wife and companion of 68 years Eufemia Maestas who preceded him in death by 40 days; brothers, Enrique and Benito Maestas, sister Carlotta and Lucas Velasquez; brother in law, Gregorio Salazar, sisters-in-law, Onofre Salazar, Mercy Maestas, and Presciliana and Amarante Garcia; daughter-in-law, Linda Joe Gonzales Maestas and daughter, Letesia. Mr. Santiago Maestas is survived by his sons Lionel of Chili, James and wife Annie, Elmo and wife Vicki all of Albuquerque; Grandchildren Phillip and wife Viola, Jennifer and Rocky Sanchez, Tommy and wife Becky, Jeremy, and Robert; great grandchildren, Gavin, Mateo, Garrett, Diego and Ryne; beloved niece, Mary Lillian Maestas; beloved nephew, Joseph Maestas and wife Veronica; sisters Polly Tainter, Theresa Espinosa, Elvira Gizentanner and brother Johnny Maestas; sister-in-law, Angie Maestas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers, Phillip Maestas, Jose Maestas, David Tainter, Alfonso Martinez, Pete Maestas, Robert Maestas, honorary pallbearers names are Pedro Garcia, Anna Lisa, Viola, Becky, Georgette, Jeremy, Benito, Waylon Maestas, Jennifer Sanchez, Myra Maestas Martinez, Tommy Maestas, and Mary Lillian Maestas Martinez (Larry and Marisol). The family of Santiago A. Maestas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
