Santana Age - 94 - Coyote Salazar

Santana Salazar, 94, a resident of Coyote, New Mexico was surrounded by her family as she went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 12, 2013. She was a woman with great valor and passion for her life’s work. It was always a pleasure to listen as she recounted, in vivid detail, experiences of her life’s journey. She learned how to weave when she was young and went to become a well-known weaver. Santana was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donaciano Salazar; parents, Tomas and Emilia Velasquez; parents-in-law, Crescenio and Reynalda Salazar; sons-in-law: Orlando Atencio, Fidel Martinez and Alex Nazorek; sisters: Solome (Luis) Rodriguez, Amada (Juan) Herrera, Elvira (Manuel) Rodriguez, and Anita (Jose) Martinez; brothers: Pacomio Archuleta, Juan Manuel Velasquez, Juan Manuel (Bohemia) Velasquez, Salomon (Carmen) Velasquez and Tomas Velasquez; sisters-in-law: Mela Velasquez and Lucy Velasquez. Santana is survived by her children: Delfin Salazar of Gallup, NM, Leo (Cleo) Salazar of Coyote, NM, Tommie (Levi) Herrera of Mesa Poleo, NM Reynalda Atencio of Colorado Springs, CO, Connie Martinez, Roy Salazar, Lillian (Henry) Ortega all of Coyote, NM, Anita (Carlo) Herrera of Farmington, NM, Marilyn Nazorek, Don Jr. (Andrea) both of Rio Rancho, NM and Pres (Lori) Salazar of Coyote, NM; grandchildren that she raised, Del Salazar of Gallup, NM, Robert Salazar of Durango, CO and Richard Salazar of Gallup, NM; brother, Benceslau Velasquez of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Rosalia Velasquez of Coyote, NM; 51 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 49 great great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote with burial to follow at Coyote Catholic Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers: Del Salazar, Benito Salazar, Levi Herrera, Justin Salinas, Abel Martinez, Leroy Salazar, Paul Ortega, Jason Herrera, and Zachary Salazar. The family of Santana Salazar have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
