Sandra "Vennie" Valdez

Sandra “Vennie” Valdez, 54, a lifetime resident of Chimayo, left to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her best friend and brother, Joe Martinez Jr. “Mother Nature”. Sandra was born October 7, 1960 to her parents Joe Solis and Angie Martinez. She graduated from Cosmetology School at NNMCC in El Rito. She successfully operated her Beauty Salon, Hidden Beauty’s Hair Salon in Chimayo. She was so considerate that she would make house calls for the elderly and sick. She proudly served her Catholic Community since 1999 as a Guadalupana. She is survived by her three children, daughters, Candyce Valencia and spouse Conrad, Shayna Valdez, son, Lucas Gomez, 3 grandchildren that she loved and cared for, Cedryc Valencia, Ceryne Valencia and Nyree Padilla; siblings, Darla Vigil and spouse Kevin Vigil, Sadie Chavez, and Nel Martinez, and many nieces, nephews close friends to many to name. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 12, 2105 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at the Potrero Catholic Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are, Joshua and Timothy Vigil, Nicholas Martinez, Isaiah Chavez, Deon Trujillo and David Gomez. The family of Sandra “Vennie” Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n \r\n
