Sandra Ortiz

SANDRA ELAINE MARIE ORTIZ, a lifetime resident of El Rancho, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Aurora, CO at the age of 54 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Luis and Clotilde Lujan, paternal grandparents, Antonio and Ursulita Trujillo; aunt, Eliria Roybal, uncle, Carlos Lujan; mother-in-law, Clora Ortiz. Sandra was a dedicated employee for the State of New Mexico where she served in various capacities in many Departments for 34 years. Her love for God was evident because of all the ministries she was involved in throughout the Archdiocese including search, ACTS, Engagement and Marriage Enrichment, Life in the Spirt, teaching confirmation, mayordomo and the Holy Family Society. Sandra was a very giving, generous, caring, loving person who anyone in need could count on. Sandra is survived by her husband of 36 years, Melvin Ortiz; children, Billy Ortiz (Amber), Sheryl Ortiz (Richard), and Amanda Ortiz all of El Rancho; grandchildren, Erik Ortiz Hailey Herrera of La Mesilla, Jillian, Shane, Omri Ortiz all from El Rancho, Alanica Cordova of El Rancho, Uriah Molina of El Rancho; parents, Billy and Mary Ann Trujillo of El Rancho; brothers, Ronnie and wife Dolores Trujillo of McCurdy, Melvin Trujillo (Judy) of Santa Clara; father-in-law, Mariano Ortiz of Pecos; brothers-in-law, Joseph and wife Gloria Ortiz of Pecos and Danny Ortiz and wife Colleen of El Rancho, sisters-in-law, Wanda Cde Baca, Darlene Ortiz and husband David and Kathy Ortiz all of Pecos; God-sons, Antonio Trujillo, Luiz Zamorano Elias Erazo Lujan and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.  A public visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A rosary will be recited on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at El Camposanto de la Cruz in El Rancho.
