Samuel T. Romero, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, born and reared in Truchas, New Mexico, embarked on the last trek of his earthly journey on Saturday, August 27, when God called him home.\r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents; Carmelita T. and Cosme Romero; paternal grandparents; Beatriz D. and Emilio Romero, step-grandfather; Vidal Romero, maternal grandparents; Epifania and Gavino Trujillo, parents-in-laws; Juan De Dios and Petrita Maestas; and Marcella and Antonio S. Quintana, sisters-in-law; Lucy Quintana, and Nora Garcia, brothers-in-law; Louis Maestas, Isidoro Quintana, Jim Medina, Leland Maestas and Ralph Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Angie Q. Romero; daughter Madeline J. Gomez and husband Bernard of Albuquerque; sons, Herbert I. Romero and wife Rosemary of Santa Fe, and Samuel Paul Romero and wife Frances of Albuquerque; granddaughters; Jacqueline and Ivana Romero, grandsons; Herbert Jr., Roby, Santiago, and Stephen Romero, Christian Joseph, and Aaron James Gomez; brother Henry Romero of Truchas; sisters Susie Gurule and husband, Loretto, Truchas; Cecilia and Nora Romero of Santa Fe; Bernice Mascarenas of Rio Rancho; and Mary Helen Kelty and husband, Chic, of Santa Fe; Sisters-in-law Alice Medina and Irene Maestas both of La Puebla; Estolia Martinez and husband, Joe, from Chimayo; Cornelia DeAguero and husband, Elifar from Cuarteles; Esperanza Buckman from La Puebla; Loraine Archuleta and husband, Jerry, from Santa Fe; and Frances Quintana from Minturn, Colorado; brothers-in-law, Albert Quintana, from La Puebla; and Julian Quintana and wife, Hazel, from Sombrillo.\r\nPublic visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 412 Stover, S.W., in Albuquerque, beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
