Samuel “Sam” Duran, 86, a resident of Española, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 30th, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Sam is proceeded in death by his loving wife Dolores A. Duran, his parents Abraham “Sam” and Vicenta Duran. Siblings Manuel Duran, Diana Serrano, Gloria Abeyta, and Amelia Chacon.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Baca and husband Elias, and Roberta Duran. Grand-daughter Maria LeRouge-Kerr and husband Jeremiah. Great-Grandsons Isaiah LeRouge, Brian Kerr, and Alex Kerr. Siblings Tony Duran and wife Connie, David Duran, and Frank Duran, and many loving nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Sam served in the U.S. Navy as 1st Class Boilerman. In his good health you would find him fishing nearby lakes with his compadres or spending quality time with his loving family.
There will be a rosary in the Sangre de Cristo chapel at Devargas Funeral Home and Crematory on November 14, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe, NM on November 15, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. The burial will be followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
Serving the family as pallbearers, Elias Baca, Isaiah LeRouge, and Jeremiah Kerr. Honorary pallbearer Ferbie Coriz and Tommy Gonzales.
