SAMUEL VIGIL, 91, a resident of Ranchitos, was born on June 24, 1919 in Chacon, NM and passed away like he lived, quietly and peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2011 surrounded by his family. Mr. Vigil was a WWII Army Veteran who served his country in Germany and throughout Europe. He worked for 30 years and retired from the New Jersey Zinc Mine in Gilman, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Fedencia Vigil; sons, Tommy, Sammy and Anthony; sisters, Mary and Gregorita; brothers, Arnold and Feliberto; granddaughter, Pamela Stacy Vigil and grandsons, Thomas Anthony Vigil and Daniel Jason Vigil. Mr. Vigil is survived by his wife Virginia of 63 years; son, Ted Vigil and wife Loretta of Dillon, Colorado; daughters, Lucy of Ranchitos, Pat Griego and husband James of Chili, Louise of Avon, Colorado, Pauline Griego and husband Clifford of Ranchitos, Sandra of Pojoaque, Cindy of Española and Brenda of Chili; 14 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at the Petaca Cemetery with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, George Griego, Brian Griego, Steven Talachy, Roman Lopez, Derek Vigil, Matthew Vigil and Sammy Miner. Honorary pallbearers named are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family of Samuel Vigil has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
