Sammy Herrera, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 21, 2015. Sammy was a lifelong resident of Nambe New Mexico. Born to Eloy and Guadalupe Herrera on October 18, 1955. Proceeding him in death are his parents and brothers Teodolo, JoseMaria, and Timmy Herrera; Nephew, Tommy Herrera Jr; Paternal grandparents, David and Manuelita Herrera, maternal grandparents, Josemaria and Julianita Ortiz; brother in law, Bobby Vigil and various uncles and aunts. He spent a lot of times with friends and family. He enjoyed watching television including cartoons that always brought joy to his life including all types of music. He was proud of his children and loved them very much He went to school to learn welding which he did very well. He worked at Los Alamos and the City of Santa Fe. Sammy is survived by his children, Sammy Jr. and Juliann and the mother of his children, Lori Herrera; brothers, Eloy and wife Liz, Jesus, Tommy and Donald Herrera, Sisters, Lydia Archuleta , Minnie Vigil, Abby Salazar and husband Phil , Shirley Hernandez and Husband Charles, and Julie Roberts and husband Preston; uncles, David and wife Josephine, Lorenzo and wife Emma. Many nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.at Sacred Heart Catholic, with a burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Nambe.
