Samantha M. Davis, died at home in the Sangre de Christo Mountains April 06, 2016 after a two-year fight with cancer. She was 58 years old and of the Christian faith. Born in Roanoke VA she was adopted and raised by John Simon and Lorene Owens in Williamsburg VA. She graduated Williamsburg High School in 1975. Her career included hospital administration in VA, quality assurance and quality control at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Station NY, Washington Public Power Nuclear Unit Two WA, administration for Bechtel Small Environmental Projects, and the Bechtel Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study Project at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She later served as personal assistant to Dr's Bill and Lee Russell at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Biology Division at Oak Ridge TN.
While working at Oak Ridge she met her soul mate who became her husband in 1994. Together they worked and lived in five additional states finally arriving in the Los Alamos / Santa Fe area in 2006. Here she divided her time collecting local and regional artwork, decorating the household, maintaining the iris gardens, overseeing the annual hummingbird feeding stations, reading, and renewing herself at Blue Skies Pilates in Los Alamos.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years Clay M. Davis, son Shane A. Rovito of Houston TX, stepson Robert G. Davis of Nashville TN, and step-granddaughter Aislin Shea Davis of Nashville, TN. Also remaining behind in loving memory of her are Rufus the giant big-hearted dog, Maxine the conversational Manx cat, and Cas the 25 lb. foundling kitten. Along with her parents and friends that have gone before her she will be rejoining her beloved Sherman, and Stormy, the faithful Peabody, the stoic Wilbur, and Nick the uncommon rabbit at the Rainbow Bridge.
As she desired there will be no conventional funeral services. A private celebration of her life will be held locally at a later date. Her ashes will be interred in Oak Ridge TN to await her husband and the call at the end of time. The family wishes to express deep and heartfelt gratitude to her community of friends in Los Alamos and Espanola community as well as friends at Los Alamos National Laboratory, the St. Vincent’s Cancer Center, the doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, and patient support staff of Wing 2200 West who provided loving and professional care to her from March 15, 2016 through March 29, 2016. Those that are moved to memorialize her are requested to give generously to the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Institute or the ASPCA in memory of her name.
