SALVADOR MARTINEZ, 70, a resident of Española, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Angela Martinez; brothers, Cruz and Victor Martinez; sister, Dolores Barraza; step-son, Joseph C. Trujillo; mother-in-law, Rosaura Martinez; brothers-in-law, Fred Martinez, David Dorado, Oscar Valenzuela; sister-in-law, Bertha Martinez. Salvador was a longtime construction worker for the Española Transit Mix. He enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, horseback riding and was always doing something. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending quality time with his family. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Josephine Martinez; step-daughters, Frances Diaz (Tony), Angela Rios (Jorge Marquez), Rebecca Trujillo and Christine Trotter (Patrick); step-grandchildren, Antonette Cordova of California, Jesse Trujillo of Texas, Jonathan Cordova, J.R. Rios both of Española, Joel Acosta of California, Steven Marquez, Briana Moya both of Española, Jacob Moya of California and Nia Cordova of Alcalde; siblings, Jose Martinez of Hernandez, Luis Martinez of Chihuahua, Mexico and Luz Martinez of San Antonio; nieces, Silvia Martinez (Cesar Lopez) of Hernandez, Stephany Barrraza of Colorado, Mary Barraza and Christina Martinez both of Mexico, Lucilia Martinez of Arizona, Arcelia Martinez of El Paso and Zulema Martinez of Arizona; nephews, Octavio Barraza (Sandra) of Albuquerque, Jose Luiz Martinez of Mexico, Gaspar Barraza of Texas, Baltazar Barraza (Carmen) of Colorado, Melchor Barraza of Mexico, Victor Martinez, Sergio Martinez (Rosy) both of Albuquerque, Jose Luis Martinez of Mexico, Jose Omar Martinez of Colorado and numerous other dearly loved relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española, with a burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Baltazar and Octavio Barraza, Alonso and Cesar Lopez, J.R. Rios, Patrick Trotter, Tony Diaz and Eduardo Chavira. Honorary pallbearers named are, Jonathan Cordova and Sergio Martinez. The family of Salvador Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
