RUMALDA N. MARTINEZ, 80, a resident of Española, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estanislado and Octavianita Naranjo; sisters, Ramoncita Naranjo and Emiteria Salazar; infant daughters, Lourdes and Loretta and son, Chris Archuleta. She loved crocheting, embroidering, planting flowers and especially going to the casino. In her younger years she loved going to the dances. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband, Alfonso H. Martinez; daughters, Carmella Martinez and husband Richard and Angelica Martinez; brother, Melisendro Naranjo; sister, Minnie Martinez; grandchildren, Elisha McDougal and husband Alex, Jeanna Martinez, Daniel A. Cordova, Chris Archuleta and companion Estela, Nick Archuleta and wife Rain and Naomi Valdez (Dean); very close 1st cousin, Virginia Montoya of Nambe; daughter-in-law, Louise Valdez; very close niece, Theresa Baros; 8 great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Daniel Cordova, Chris Archuleta, Jr., Nicholas Archuleta, Eloy Maestas, Ernie Maestas and Robert Chavez. The family of Rumalda N. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
