RUDY E. MARTINEZ, 62, a resident of Española and formerly of Dixon, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Pablo Martinez; sister, Rose Martinez; maternal grandparents, Leonardo and Victoriana Martinez; paternal grandparents, Eusevio and Matilde Martinez; paternal aunt, Celina Chavez and close cousins, Clara Salazar, Minnie Ortiz and Jose E. Inez Martinez. Rudy was a loving father, son, grandfather and brother. He was an extremely proud Vietnam Army Veteran. He spent time fishing and loved watching his favorite football team the Raiders. He had a great sense of humor and it wasn’t uncommon for him to horseplay with his family and friends. He adored his dog, Gooey. He was also close to his nephew, Daniel Martinez. One of Rudy’s favorite past times was repairing body work on automobiles, especially oldies and going to the casino. He would have taken the shirt off his back to help others. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, you will be forever remembered in our hearts. Mr. Martinez is survived by his daughter, Andrea Martinez and honorary son Christopher Rocha of Española; mother, Anita Martinez of Dixon; brothers and sisters, Paul Martinez and wife Beatrice of Chimayo, Sally Valdez and companion Larry Valdez of Velarde and Elena Arellano and husband Estevan of Embudo, Norman Martinez and wife Doris of Dixon and Ricky Martinez and wife Annette of Los Luceros; grandchildren, Dezmund Marcus of Ohkay Owingeh, Hope Martinez-Rocha of Española and an unborn little angel; very close friends, Rosie and Richard Rivera of Arroyo Seco and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Apostolic Praise Temple in Dixon with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial to take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Paul, Norman, Ricky, Daniel and Norman Martinez, Jr. and Felipe Valdez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Dezmund and Byron Marcus, Hope Martinez-Rocha, Christopher Rocha, Pablo Martinez, Matthew Maes, Miles Rocha, Matteo Rocha, Richard Rivera, Santiago Cardenas and Gooey Martinez. The family of Rudy E. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
