RUBEN U. SANDOVAL, 71, originally of Cordova and a life-long resident of Chimayo, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Ruben was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a big heart and cared for everyone around him. He enjoyed long conversations, good company, and making people laugh. He loved supporting the Española Valley Sundevils and tried attending every game. Ruben was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary D. Sandoval; two loving sons, Steven and Randy Sandoval; parents, Israel and Cordilia Sandoval; in-laws, Manuel and Victoria Chavez; two brothers, Damian and Onivas Sandoval; sisters-in-law, Odelia Duran and Estefanita Vigil, and brothers-in-law, Daniel Pacheco, Roberto and Ernesto Chavez. Mr. Sandoval is survived by his three daughters, Karen Quintana and husband Sidney, Christina Sandoval, and Charlotte Morfin; son, Russell Sandoval and companion Adele Archuleta; granddaughters, Amanda Binion and husband Shane, Cassandra Quintana, Denisha Quintana and companion Matt Martinez, Tatyana Quintana and companion Julian Martinez, Destiny Sandoval, and Santana Martinez; grandsons, Jaiden Quintana and Russell Sandoval, Jr.; great-grandsons, Jordan Padilla and Shane Binion, Jr.; great-granddaughters, Azaryah Binion, Amy, and Hailey; sisters, Rosina Trujillo, Benina Martinez, Olivama, and Elaine Sandoval; brothers, Zebedeo Sandoval and wife Bertha, Danny Sandoval-Tidwell and wife Yvonne, Pete Sandoval and wife Nancy, Henry Sandoval and wife Joyce, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second public visitation will begin on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Dennis Chavez, Danny Sandoval, Jr., Manuel Sandoval, Brian Griego, Matt Martinez, Julian Martinez, Adrian Sandoval, and Gerald Sanchez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are, Shane Binion, Azaryah Binion, Jaiden Quintana, Jordan Padilla, and Russell Sandoval, Jr. The family of Ruben U.
