Ruben was currently employed as the Administrator at the Los Alamos Retirement Community (Aspen Ridge) where he was employed for 14 years.  He dedicated his life taking care of people whether in the Nursing Home, at the Assisted Living, or in public where he was an EMT, firefighter with Espanola Fire, Deputy for Santa Fe Sheriff Department, Certified Med. Tech., Staff Development Coordinator, CPR instructor, Admission Director, Certified Nursing Assistant as well as phlebotomist.

Ruben lived life to the fullest and his favorite pastime was to play with his son Jaylen (who was his pride and joy), spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping, playing basketball, watching sports, skiing, bike riding, tubing, attending basketball games, cheer competitions, water fights, playing with his “furball” Nikai and Reggie, taking Jaylen to practice, attending all of Jaylen’s games (soccer, basketball, football, baseball).  Ruben will be remembered for his heart of gold, he was such an incredible man, caring and loving who made a friend in everyone he met and a role model to so many. He made a huge impact in everyone’s lives, he had a way of touching your soul, and making you want to be a better person. His family was his priority and always put others needs before his own. He was a gentlemen, a man of strength, honor, and dignity. He had a soothing voice and a radiance about him that was infectious. His kindness, generosity, and caring way were one of a kind, his amazing smile, laugh, and his great big hugs were something no one will ever forget. Ruben was a hard worker, a hopeless romantic, a gentle soul, and someone that would be there for you whenever you needed his help or support. A man who loved with his whole heart and will be forever missed. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola.
