Ruben Manzanares, 66, a resident of El Llano, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Enos and Maria Manzanares; brother, Pete Manzanares. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Machinist with 32 years of service. His pride and joy were his grandkids, he loved fishing and visiting his wife at the casino. Ruben is survived by his wife, Melva Manzanares; children, Melvina Martinez and husband Israel, Rubina Garcia and husband Robbie, Ruben Manzanares and fiancé Mallery Martinez, and Marlina Manzanares and companion Adrian Salazar; grandchildren, Israel Martinez, Jr., Monique Martinez, JoeRey Manzanares, Jadrain Garcia, and Mateo Manzanares; brothers, Manuel Manzanares and wife Theresa, Joe Manzanares and wife Nellie, sisters, Mela Vigil and companion Desiderio (Des) Salmeron, Viola Martinez, Ruth Esquibel and husband James; sisters-in-law, Lourdes Manzanares, Loyola Trujillo, Norma and husband Ernie Vigil, Mary Lou and husband Rosendo Lujan, Jean Gonzales, Sandra Roybal, Diane and husband Edwin Ortiz, brothers-in-law, Michael and wife Jean Roybal, David and wife Cecilia Roybal, PhillyJoe, Gerard, and Peter Roybal, Leo and wife Monica Roybal and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Israel Martinez, Israel Martinez Jr., Robbie Garcia, JoeRey Manzanares, Adrian Salazar, and Des Salmeron. Honorary pallbearers named, Jadrain Garcia, Monique Martinez, Mateo Manzanares, Robert (Bobo) Vigil, Kenneth Trujillo, and Jacob Sullivan. The family of Ruben Manzanares has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
