Ruben - 82 - Chamita Salazar

Ruben Salazar, 82, – a resident of Chamita went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 19, 2010. He passed away with his loving family by his side. Ruben was born to Alfredo M. and Margarita Salazar on June 2, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo M and Margarita Salazar; step-mother Antonia M. Salazar. Brothers, Alfredo “Chero” Salazar, Julian Salazar and wife Mary; brothers-in-law, Antonio “Tony” Roybal and Juan Eledo Garcia; children: Waldo Salazar and wife Elsie, Myron Salazar; infant daughter, Lorena Salazar; granddaughter, Krisanne Salazar; nephew, Arthur Serna and niece Wendy Serna-Maes. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Teresa Salazar; sons: Leroy Salazar and wife Cindy of Las Cruces, Chris Salazar of Chamita; daughters: Margo and Juliet Salazar of Chamita, Melissa Salazar-Porter and husband Charles of Nambe, Lorena Salazar-Garcia and husband Richard of Chamita and Angelica Salazar and companion Anthony Lujan of Santa Fe. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Natividad Roybal of Las Vegas, N.M., Pauline Garcia of Hernaandez, Rosalie Shane and husband Charlie of El Paso, T.X., Gilbert Salazar and wife Nora, Rudy “Dewey” Salazar and wife Helen, Lucy Serna and husband Orlando of Chamita, Connie Rodriguez and husband Eddie of Los Lunas; sisters-in-law, Elvira Salazar and Mercy Martinez of Chamita, brothers-in-law, Tony Martinez and wife Forty of Alcalde, Raymond Martinez;. His 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a very special godson, Rick Salazar and wife Yolanda, and goddaughters Micaela Maestas, Helene Salazar, and Shelly Serna also survive him. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in San Juan followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in San Juan with interment to follow at The San Pedro Cemetery in Chamita. Honoring their grandfather and assisting the family as pallbearers are: Ruben Salazar, David Quintana, Anthony Salazar, Jesus Gallegos, Carlos Garcia, Angelo Maestas, Joseph Porter, Antonio and Jose Garcia, and a dear foster-son Reynaldo Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are his remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and close friends Phil and Marian Diaz, Floyd Romero, Jose Gutierrez, Eloy Trujillo, Clyde Vigil, Fidel Trujillo, Carlos Vigil and Willie Garcia.
