Roy - Age 66 - Santa Cruz - Martinez

ROY B. MARTINEZ, 66, a resident of Santa Cruz, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Frances Martinez and his great-grandson, Martin Palacios, Jr. Roy was a very talented musician, playing the lead guitar, the drums, bass guitar, the trumpet and the organ. He was a skilled pool player. He had a passion for fixing cars then selling them. He would spend hours with his dog, Lollipop. He enjoyed going for wood and always tending to his miniature farm. He was a very loving man, everyone from his kids to grandchildren and everybody in between; he never said no. Our beloved husband, and daddy will always be loved and missed by everyone that knew him. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Beatrice Jimenez; brother, Ernesto Martinez, Jr.; children, Cindy Martinez, Roy Martinez, Jr. and wife Phyllis, Lee Martinez and Felicia Jimenez; grandchildren, Brennin Paul, Vanessa and Ashley Martinez, Eleazar Roy Lopez, Jr., Eliseo V. Lopez and Amanda Scheurmann; great-grandchildren, Letecia, Jesus, Camila, Jose, Matthew, Natalia, Ayson and Ayden. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Michael and Mark Jimenez, Jose Martinez, Gene Herrera and Joe and Andy Ortega. Honorary pallbearers named are, Ernesto Jr., Leroy and Peter Martinez and Ernesto Herrera. The family of Roy B. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
