Ross Olivas, of El Llano, NM, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Ross was born on June 18, 1954. His life was a testament to love, creativity, and the joy of nurturing both people and the world around him.
Ross loved and cared for his wife of 46 years. As a loving father, he provided guidance, encouragement, and had endless pride in his daughters’ accomplishments. He had an admirable relationship with his sons-in-laws. Ross had an extraordinary bond with his dog, Max, whose companionship brought him endless comfort. It was his role as a grandfather that brought him unparalleled happiness. His grandson, Andy III, was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent laughing, teaching, and making memories with him.
A gifted artist, Ross expressed himself and found fulfillment in painting and creating pottery. He generously shared his pieces with family and friends to adorn their homes. Music was another love that defined Ross’ life. A devoted fan of The Beatles, their timeless melodies played as the soundtrack to countless cherished memories.
Ross also had a deep connection to the earth. He loved growing fresh produce and tending to his garden, where he found peace and purpose. He enjoyed sharing his produce with family and friends. Whether it was planting, watering, or harvesting, Ross’s garden was a reflection of his nurturing spirit.
Ross was preceded in death by his grandparents Toribio and Ramona Olivas who raised him; father-in-law and mother-in-law Marcos and Perfidia Quintana; brother-in-law Leonard Martinez.
His beautiful legacy lives on through his wife, Isabel; his daughters Jasmine and Cassandra; his sons-in-law Estevan Vigil and Andy Chavez Jr.; his grandson Andy III; his mom, Prescilla Dominguez; sister Cathy; and in-laws Mary Lou Martinez, Betty Pacheco (Henry), Elias Quintana (Marsha), and Sammy Quintana (Annette).
Ross’ legacy is one of love, creativity, and dedication to the things that truly mattered: his family, his art, his music, and the earth he so lovingly tended. His love and light will continue to grow in the lives of those he touched, much like the garden he so lovingly nurtured.
