Ross Garcia Sr., 65, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, passed away in an automobile accident on Saturday, March 21, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Archuleta; biological father, Joe Garcia; father, Tommy Archuleta; mother of his children, Susie Sanchez. Mr. Garcia joined the Army in 1967 right out of High school, went to Vietnam and became a Vietnam Veteran. Returned back to Ohkay Owingeh in 1970. Mr. Garcia worked for the Española Public Schools, Eight Northern Indian Pueblos and the County of Rio Arriba from which he retired from after 18 years. Mr. Garcia enjoyed cleaning his home, vehicles, and his yard was always immaculate. Mr. Garcia was survived by his children, Ross Garcia, Jr. and wife Rebecca, Eli Garcia and companion Stephanie, Stacey Garcia-Padilla and husband Andres, Julian Garcia and companion Maria, Isaac Garcia and companion Chantell and Monica Garcia; brothers and sisters, Norma Naranjo (Hutch), Mae Montoya (Alfred), Steven Garcia (Maria), Richard Archuleta, Tomasita Duran (Leslie) and Dorothy Abeyta (Kevin); grandchildren, Nicodemus Castillo and Tyanna Garcia; mother of his children, Anna Nailor. A rosary to be recited on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the residence of Ross Garcia, Sr. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery. The family of Ross Garcia Sr. has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
