Rosina L. Garcia

September 6, 1922 — April 22, 2023

Rosina L. Garcia, 100 – A beautiful shining light left this earth and now shines brightly above in heaven lighting a path filled with strength and guidance.  On Saturday, April 22nd, angels descended to escort their faithful servant home.  Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother was greeted in heaven by her loving husband Joe, sons Johnny and Orlando, daughter-in-law Shirley, granddaughter Nicole, parents Juan and Antonia Lujan, sister Aurelia and brothers Leopoldo and Orlando. Also waiting to greet her was her dearest best friend, Clara Montoya.

It would be impossible to capture all 100-plus years of her life, thus a brief insight to a beautiful life.  Rosina was born on September 6, 1922, in Santa Cruz and was a longtime resident of Velarde prior to moving to Albuquerque.  Throughout her life, she was known for her sweet smile and kind-hearted personality. Her loving face reflected many years of laughter, sacrifice, and unconditional trust in her Catholic faith.  Her eyes mirrored love and wisdom to all who were blessed to know her.  To those touched by her caring hands felt her struggles, courage, prayers, and determination to help others before herself.  She carried with her the warmth and kindness that were the hallmark of her upbringing from modest beginnings and gave a perfect example of a strong work ethic.

As a mother, she was the embodiment of love and care, always putting her children first, ensuring they had everything they needed to thrive and succeed in life.  Her unwavering support and guidance were a source of comfort and strength.  She cherished all her grandchildren, and dearly loved spending time with each one, watching them grow in an amazing generation to generation.

Rosina was a humble soul who leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, but her legacy will continuously inspire and uplift us all. God touched our mother with His light and mercy transcending these characteristics to help others.

She is survived by her sons Joseph, Anthony (Debbie), Donald, daughters Frances and Antoinette (Gary). She was blessed with grandchildren Joey (Antoinette), Jolene (Bobby), Nina (Donald), Leyla (Gilbert), “Little” Anthony, Jenine, Nicholas (Haneen), Christian, Ryan, Kristin, Justin, Jacob and Christopher. Her great-grandchildren include Essence (Jake), Izaynah, Jairus, Jaia, Jorinthian, Gabriel, Aubrianna, Yamila, Noah and Eli. Her great-great grandchildren are Rome and Taos. Each one brought her immense joy and happiness as she cherished every moment spent with them.

We would like to give sincere thanks to Compassus staff particularly Aliesha, her incredible and caring nurse and Ramona, her loving and gentle nurse aide, for their care.  Also, we are thankful to Home Care Assistance for their amazing and thoughtful caregivers Peggy, Gemma, Mercy, Maria and especially Jeannie, as mom would call, her earthly guardian angel.  Each of her caregivers provided the compassion and comfort that will never be forgotten.

A rosary will be held on Saturday, May 13 beginning at 11:00am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church located on 12500 Carmel NE in Albuquerque followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30am with Father Michael Shea officiating.  Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.

“Grandma Rose” will be escorted to her final resting place by her grandsons Joey Garcia, Christian Martinez, Ryan Creel, Justin Garcia, Jake Garcia and Chris Garcia with honorary pallbearers Nicholas Martinez and “Little” Anthony Garcia. Go sing with the angels’ mom!
