Rosemary "Weda" - age 49 - Español Gonzales

Rosemary “Weda” Gonzales, 49, a resident of Española, originally from Chamita, passed away of a lengthy illness on Thursday, February 13, 2014. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Gonzales; father, Lee Arthur Gonzales; brother, Felix Griego; maternal grandmother, Rosa Griego, paternal grandparents, Jose Miguel and Frances Maestas, great-grandmother, Guadalupe Salazar. Rosemary was a lover of life who enjoyed living life to the fullest. Rosemary was proclaimed to be one of the best tamale makers in Northern New Mexico, she played softball for many years in her youth and greatly enjoyed the outdoors, camping, dancing and spending time with her family. Rosemary was always the life of the party as her smiling face and joke telling always kept those who knew her smiling and laughing she will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Rosemary is survived by her daughters, Sherrie Naranjo and husband Jerome and Joslyn Santa Cruz; son, Jose Miguel Vasquez; her companion, Jose Santa Cruz and his daughter Dajah; mother, Olympia Maria Gonzales; brothers and sisters, Leonard Griego, Deborah Pacheco, Brendalee Gonzales-Montoya and husband Marvin, Marvin Gonzales and wife Bernadette, Lino Tapia, Moises Gonzales, Christopher Gonzales; grandchildren, Nevaeh Sanchez, Marcos Sanchez, Jay Andre “JJ”, Auzria and Aubrey Naranjo; Godmother, Ruth Lucero.and numerous, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow the rosary at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. The family requests any financial assistance towards funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated and donations may be made to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
