Rosemary K. Hunter passed away unexpectedly Friday March 2, 2012 at Los Alamos Medical Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She was affectionately known to her friends and family as “Kue”. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rose Ann Kubin and her brother Lawrence Blahnik. She is survived by her son, Don Edward Hunter and his wife Joy Hunter; three grandchildren, April Dawn Pease, Clyde Albert Hunter and Jeremy Edward Hunter; five great grandchildren, Kayla, Trevor, Paige, Hayden, and Arianna; three nieces, Karen Wisdom, Janice Hunter Hudnall and husband James, and Jackie Hubbard; numerous other relatives and lifelong friends. She was dedicated to her community, family and friends. She was a member of the Amantes de Flores Garden Club, the Espanola Hospital Auxiliary, and the Espanola Opera Guild for the Santa Fe Opera. In 1994, Governor Bruce King appointed her to the New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women. She retired from the New Mexico State Public Regulation Commission where she worked tirelessly on behalf of the citizens of New Mexico as a telecommunications specialist with her focus on consumer relations. Kue was known for her beauty, style and grace; her intelligence and wit; and her pursuit of perfection in always getting the job done “right”. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and community. Public visitation will begin on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial is pending. The family would like to thank the staff from the Los Alamos Medical Center, the Espanola Hospital and Aspen Ridge Lodge, and special friends; Ruth Dunn and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Quintana for their kindness to and care of Kue during her last illness.
