Rosa A. Benavidez “Grandma Rose”, 63, a resident of Espanola, passed away of a lengthy illness on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Eufemia Trujillo; grandson, Aaron Benavidez; brothers, Carlos Trujillo, and Jerry Salazar; mother-in-law, Porfedia Benavidez; maternal grandparents, Moises and Rosa Gallegos, paternal grandparents, Jose Carmen and Josephina Trujillo. Grandma Rose was a very loving and giving person, she loved to cook for her family and who ever came to her home, she always made sure they ate and were taken care of before they left her home, and she always made sure to take care of everyone else’s needs before her own. Rosa had a passion for cleaning and always made sure to have everything spic and span. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rosa is survived by her daughter, Theresa Benavidez and fiancé Mario Lovato, sons, Phillip Benavidez and George Benavidez; grandchildren, Kimberly Romero and companion, Fabian Trujillo, Phillip Benavidez III and partner Billy Martinez, LeeAnn Quintana and Carlos Maestas, Marissa Benavidez, Kaitlyn Benavidez, Isaiah Salazar and Jehoran Quintana, great-grandchildren, Annalisa Romero, and Renesa Maestas; Rosa’s companion, Ramon Garcia; father of her children, Bonifacio Benavidez and companion Rosemary Herrera; brother, Jose Trujillo and wife Kathy, sisters, Josephine Martinez and husband Orlando, Louisa Montoya and husband Vicente, Mary Montoya and husband Henry; special God-son, Rick Chavez and wife Nadine. Public visitation will begin on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Hernandez with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Rick Chavez, Mario Lovato, Phillip Benavidez III, Anthony Naranjo, Isaiah Salazar, and Ramon Garcia, honorary pallbearers named are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her God-children and Frankie Martinez.
