Ronald “Chili Man” Atencio, 54, a resident of Española formally of Santa Fe went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was a kind, compassionate man, always sharing and giving what he had, he loved life to the fullest. He was better known as the “Chili Man.” Ronaldo was the son of the late Jose Lifar and Gregorita Atencio from Santo Nino. He was preceded in death by his brother Ross; brother-in-law, Al Carrillo; nephews: Marcus Jojola, Khristian Mondragon and Austin Urban. Ronaldo is survived by his children: Criselia Garcia (Mathew), Ronaldo Atencio II (Angelique) from Roswell, Rhonda Atencio (Lorenzo) from Hernandez; mother of his children, Darlene Ramirez from El Duende. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Leah, Marcus, Ronaldo III, Elijah, Samuel, Destiny, Ambrosia, Angelica, Alexandra, Marshall, Sara Beth and Nicholas; brother, Eduardo Atencio (Helen) of Las Vegas, NM; sisters: Margie Carrillo, Lorraine Mata (Pablo Lupe), Catherine Hernandez (Joe), Yvonne Vigil all of Santa Fe, Effie Mondragon (Gilbert) of Tooele, Utah, Georgette Ayers of El Guache; numerous nieces, nephews & other loving relatives & friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
