Espanola

Ronald Patrick Lopez passed away at 47 years of age, suddenly on Sunday February 23rd. He was born in Santa Fe, raised in Pojoaque, and eventually settled in Espanola, New Mexico.

Those who knew him, knew him as someone who opened his heart and home to his friends and family. He was ready to help whether it was swapping engines in your car, fixing your heater, or giving you a listening ear. Many of his friends but especially his daughter really didn’t worry about much because whatever happened “Ron can fix it.” His friends and family called Ron about any problem whether mechanical or emotional and he dropped everything to give them whatever help was needed. As much as he loved helping others, he didn’t like to ask for help, but lately he was learning to do that, and enjoyed the company of those who showed up to help him.

Ron and Milissa studied the Bible with Ruben Lopez in 2000, he told Milissa he would study but he would never put on a suit and knock on doors. However, after much research, thought, and prayer, he made the decision to get baptized as one of Jehovahs Witnesses on Oct 3, 2003. This opened up many other ways for him to help people such as sharing what he had learned from the Bible (which of course meant putting on a suit and knocking on doors) and caring for those in the congregation. He appreciated the hope he found in the Bible, to see his brother Gilbert, family and friends that have passed away again and would want us to hold on tight to that hope as well. John 5:28,29.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother Gilbert Lopez; grandfather Gilbert Gonzales; grandfather Robert Lopez; and grandfather Harold Raybon.

He is loved by and will be dearly missed by all, but especially his wife of 25 years, Milissa Lopez; his daughter Storm Lopez; parents Robert and Renee Lopez; brother Bobby (Robert) Lopez, wife Tammy, and their boys Gilbert and Robbie; grandmother Reynalda Gonzales; grandmother Luisita Lopez Raybon; nieces Shondalee Lopez Perez, Faith Martinez; nephews Brian and Rudy Vigil, as well as his Father-in-law Rudy Martinez; sister-in-law Monica Martinez; and brothers-in-law José and Rafael Martinez.
