\r\nRomán Rony Valdez, 76, a lifelong resident of Pojoaque, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Candido and Teresa Valdez. Román was a retired Real Estate Appraiser in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. He grew up with his family in the Pojoaque Canteen, which later became the Line Camp, which he operated for a time. He enjoyed traveling and loved nothing more than riding his motorcycle. He was loved dearly by his children and grandchildren, and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Román is survived by his son, Rico Valdez and fiancée Elizabeth Donohue of Albuquerque; daughter, Alicia Abrums and her husband Gabriel of Taos; mother of his children, Eileen Serna of Española; grandchildren, Ryan Valdez, Dylan and Sofia Abrums; sister, Barbara Garcia of Pojoaque; brother, Eugene Valdez of Albuquerque; his especially close aunt, Rosita Bassett and numerous other loving relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with a memorial mass to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. The family of Román Valdez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
