Robin Martinez, 27, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Janelle Martinez; uncle, Nestor Martinez Jr., Mike and Sylvia Martinez; grandparents, Medardo and Sofia Lopez, and Benancio and Lugarda Martinez, great-grandparents. Robin was a loving mother, daughter, niece, and cousin. She graduated from Española Valley High School then went on to work for the State of NM at CYFD. Robin had numerous jobs. Robin worked for Aging Long-term services as a financial administrator and various other jobs on contract to the state. Those who knew Robin would acknowledge she was a “social butterfly”. She was loveable friendly and outgoing. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Robin is survived by her daughter, Janelle Martinez of Velarde; brother, Joseph Martinez (Rosemery) of Park City, Utah; Aunt who was like a mother, Evelyn Maruska of Velarde, uncle, Dennis Salazar of Española who was like a father to her; grandparents, Sylvia and Nestor Martinez; uncles, Eugene Martinez (Lori Ann) of Alcalde, , Michael Martinez, and Celso Martinez (Pattie) of Glendale, Arizona, Susie Maestas (Joe), of Las Vegas, Nevada; aunt Kathy Martinez of Albuquerque; and many cousins: Jacquelyn, Kristin Maruska, Lucianna Martinez, Carlos and Sylvia Martinez, Nicholas Martinez (Megan), Megan Martinez, Jamie Valerio (Mario), Michael Martinez II, Steven, and Elias Martinez, Tilo Valerio, Eugene Martinez, Jr., Monica Martinez, Elijah, and Bentley Martinez. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Nuestra Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, with a private burial to be at a later date.
