ROBERTO “ROY” H. ATENCIO, 85, a resident of Dixon, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016. Roberto was preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Atencio; Parents, Roman and Augustina Atencio; sisters, Margaret Valdez, Dora Ortiz, and Ida Innis, brothers, Roman, Willie, Max, and Gilbert Atencio; step daughter, Wilma Salazar. Roy was born and raised in Tierra Amarilla. He enjoyed the outdoors he loved gardening, landscaping, and fishing. He was very dedicated to his family and would do anything for them. He was blessed to have a good long life and lived at home in Dixon until his passing. Roberto was a U.S Army Veteran, American Legion Post 62 in Dixon, North American Rockwell Aerospace in Los Angeles California and retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory. Roberto is survived by his sons, Robert and Stephen Atencio, daughter, Roberta (Eli) Martinez; step-daughters, Patsy (Gerard) Vigil, Jackie Davis, step-sons, Steven (Adel) Santistevan, Orlando Salazar; brother, Eloy Atencio; sister-in-law, Emma Atencio; granddaughters, Christina Atencio, Shanay Martinez, Maya Davis, grandsons, David Atencio, Ryan Martinez, John Hernandez, Matthew Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Nick Snider, Vincent Vigil, Jordan Brokloff, Daniel, Jereme and Mario Santistevan, Trey Davis, great-grandchildren, Mariah, Joshua and Khloe Vigil, and great-granddaughter, Alexis Atencio. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with a burial to follow at the Father Kupper Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, David Atencio, Ryan Martinez, Daniel, Jereme and Mario Santistevan, and Anthony Martinez, honorary pallbearers are Tina Abbot, John Heranadez, Nacho Morales, Alfonso Lovato and Jimmy Atencio.
