Robert “Bob” F. Wilson, 81, resident of Espanola, joined his Heavenly on July 18th, 2023. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Eugene Wilson, mother Marjorie Belle (Milburn) Wilson, brothers Herbert and Richard along with Helen Gibbens Wilson and Everett “Bud” Gibbens. Bob is survived by family members Margie Gibbens, Robert Gibbens and granddaughter Tara Gibbens.
Bob was born on March 20th,1942 in Topeka, Kansas. While in high school, his family moved to Oklahoma where Bob would later attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman to study art. Bob then moved to Northern New Mexico where he would settle for the remainder of his life. Bob was an avid lover of nature, animals, plants, and the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom he prayed to daily.
Bob started a greenhouse business in Pojoaque and lived for many years along the banks of the Rio Grande river near Black Mesa, enjoying the solitude of the natural surroundings. Ever since Bob was a little boy, he created art. His art career flourished as his passion was painting colorful landscapes. Bob is honored as a Northern New Mexico regionalist painter with many exhibitions throughout New Mexico and Oklahoma along with recognitions in various publications. Bob had great respect for the Native communities, including the Santa Clara, San Ildefonso and Picuris Pueblos, respectively. Pueblo community members often called him “Brother Bob”. Bob was a loyal friend to many and will be sincerely missed.
