Robert Vigil (BOBO)

ROBERT A. VIGIL, (BOBO), 44, a resident of Hernandez, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 9, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Vigil; brothers, Nelson Vigil and Juanito Manzanares, sister, Martina Vigil; maternal grandparents, Jose and Maria Manzanares, paternal grandmother, Beronize Vigil; special niece, Nicole Vigil; Nino, Ruben Manzanares; special friend Gabriel (Bobo) Valdez and Gilbert Serrano. Bobo loved to play baseball as a young boy and continued to play in the men’s softball local leagues. Bobo was known for his hunting and fishing skills. He loved being outdoors and spent a lot of time in the mountains. He also had a passion for racing. He and his Dad Andy would race their 1957 turquoise blue Chevy Bel-air all over New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. Bobo would also cruise his 1957 and 1963 lowriders in Espanola. His children are Joseph and Brittney Vigil and also Nathaniel Gonzales whom he was very proud of.  One of the biggest highlights of his life was becoming a grandfather to Audrie and Andres Vigil and is expecting to become a grandfather again in July of 2019. He always had a smile and hug and knew respect. He will be dearly missed by everyone he touched. Robert is survived by his mother, Mela Vigil and companion Des; his children, Joseph Vigil and companion Rochelle, Brittney Vigil, Nathaniel Gonzales and companion Jan Talamante; grandchildren, Audrie and Andres Vigil; mother to his children, Jennifer DeVargas and husband Abel; brother, Artie  Vigil and wife Barbara, sisters, Judith Trujillo and husband Duane, Anna Mae Fresquez and husband Lawrence, Cecilia Sandoval and husband Darren, Nina Vigil, Andres  Vigil; Goddaughter, Sydnee Pollard 9 nephews and 5 nieces; Nina, Melva Manzanares; In-laws, Salamon and Corrina Talamante; special friend Chris Valdez and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz with a rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian burial to follow immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz with the following serving as pallbearers, Artie Vigil, Judith Trujillo, Anna Mae Fresquez, Cecilia Sandoval, Andres Vigil, Nina Vigil, Chris Valdez, Norman Olivas and Silvy Talamante. Honorary pallbearers will be: Audrie Vigil, Andres Vigil, Nathaniel Gonzales, Bobby Espinoza and Melvin Serrano. The family of Robert A. Vigil has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
