Robert Martinez, born on October 12, 1934, to Maximiliano (Max) and Mercedes Martinez passed away peacefully the morning of February 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Preceding him in death are his parents and children Tim Martinez and Mark Martinez; brothers and sisters Efren (Angelina) Martinez, Ben Martinez, Max W. (Evangeline) Martinez, Loyola Quintana, Nora (Sam) Gallegos, and Peter Martinez raised as a brother.
Robert is survived by his wife of 66+ years, Marcella Martinez, son Robert A. Martinez, granddaughter Camyelle Holmes, grandsons John R. and Timothy M. Martinez, who are like sons, great grandson Richardo Salazar, Great granddaughter Arryanna Holmes, great grandson Adam Martinez, and great, great granddaughter Lila Salazar. Robert is also survived by his last surviving sibling Cipriano (Charlotte) Martinez, brother-in-law Leo Quintana, sisters-in-law Alice Martinez, Diana F. Maestas, Diane Maestas, and Rose Garcia. Many wonderful nieces and nephews also survive him. Daughters-in-law Henrietta and Dolores.
Robert worked in Los Alamos for 36 years, while at the same time meticulously caring for his orchard and gardens. Robert was the epitome of a family man, faithful, honest, and hard working. Robert was an extremely content individual with a unique sense of humor. Robert and Marcella traveled as often as possible while at the same time caring for their grandchildren. Robert will be missed by all who were graced to have known him.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:15 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the San Juan Bautista Parish Church, Okay Owingeh. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
