Robert W. Marr, 97, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Alamos on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 with his family by his side. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Alta Marr; sister, Helen and his loving wife Virginia. Robert was born and raised in Guernsey, Wyoming where he met his wife of 74 years, Virginia Marr. He worked at Lockeed Air Craft in Burbank, California before taking a job at Los Alamos National Labs as a high explosive machinist in 1957. Bob worked at S-Site until 1980. He designed and built his dream house with his wife and son on Barranca Mesa, which was one of his most cherished accomplishments. He also did iron work and helped construct the frames for the beautiful stain glass windows at the United Church. He was involved with the Mason’s and Scottish Rite for over 60 years. He loved backpacking, gardening, golf and fixing anything that was broken for his family and friends. He was disciplined, caring and gracious man. Robert is survived by his son, Larry, daughter-in-law, Jeannie; grandson, Tyler and two nieces. A service will be held at the United Church of Los Alamos on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in Graves Hall at the Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Laurence Goddard and Staff, Aspen Ridge Assisted Living, and Amber care Hospice Services for everything they did for Robert. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the United Church of Los or Aspen Ridge Assisted Living Facility, and thanks to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory for their care of Robert.
