RITO ARRAS AVITIA, 49, born on April 27, 1965 died with his family by his side on November 5, 2014 after a brave battle with cancer. Rito, a rancher and gardener was born in Valle Zaragoza near Parral in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. He loved and was loved by many. He is survived by his daughter, Lucia Marisol Arras Rubio (Fidel Javalera) and granddaughter, Lizbeth; daughter Bianca Nayeli Arras Rubio; son Brayan Alexis Arras Rubio; and his former spouse Martha Rubio. He is also survived by his parents Marcial Arras and Andrea Avitia of Valle Zaragoza, Mexico; his brothers Patricio, Marcial, Pilar, Ricardo, Margarito, Luis, Homero, Omar, and his sister Raquel; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. Rito also leaves behind his dear friends Lemonia Komis; Peter and Dorinda Komis, and their son Ianandra (pequeño) whom he loved as family. Rito immigrated to the United States in the 1980’s where he worked in California and Arizona. He settled in Santa Fe, in the early 1990’s. He worked primarily as a dedicated gardener with a green thumb for many Santa Fe families. He planted vegetables, fruit trees, roses, tulips, irises, and made our lives and surroundings more beautiful, not only by his talent, but also by his grace, hard work, and undying loyalty. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Fe. As per Rito’s wishes, his final resting place will be in his home village in Mexico. The entire Arras Family wishes to thank Judy Henry, Rachel Whitney, and Debrot Receconi of PMS Hospice Center and Charlene Gabaldon, PHP caseworker for their care and dedication to Rito, making his final days of dignity comfortable and peaceful.
