Richard Felix (Cardito) - Age 51 - Chama - Gallegos

Richard Felix Gallegos (Cardito), 51, a lifelong resident of Chama, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Abél and Ramoncita Gallegos of Chama and maternal grandparents, Geronimo and Maria Rivera of Los Ojos. Richard was an active member of the Chama Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. He served a fruitful career as a Land Use Specialist for the New Mexico State Land Office and retired after 26 years. Richard worked as a paramedic for Albuquerque Ambulance. He was an avid outdoorsman, and rancher who loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his parents, Felix Ricardo (Cardo) and Leontina Gallegos (Tina) of Chama; brother, Abél Gallegos and wife Marsha of Lakewood, CA; sister, Melinda Gallegos of Los Ojos and Tina Gallegos-Martinez and husband Leroy A. Martinez of Las Nutrias, NM and numerous cousins and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. The family of Richard Felix Gallegos (Cardito) has placed their trust in DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
