Richard Benjamin Lehmann of Alcalde died on July 23, 2010, one day before his 75th birthday.\r\nAlthough born in Okla, he was raised in Socorro and Albuquerque. He received a PhD in Chemistry from UNM in 1971. For most of his career he was director of the laboratory at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in Denver then was Professor of Chemistry at Metro State College before he retired and returned to NM in 1992. At the time of his death, he was the assistant winemaker at Black Mesa Winery in Velarde.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father Harold Lehmann, the doctor in Socorro for many years; his brother David Lehmann and his mother Charlotte Lehmann Pellettier. He is survived by his wife Barbara Morgan Lehmann.\r\nThere will be a celebration of his life in a few weeks, probably in Velarde.\r\nThe family of Richard Benjamin Lehmann has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
