Richard M. Martinez, Jr. “Chunks”, 32, a resident of Española, born November 9, 1986 and passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his infant brothers, Andrew and Mauricio; maternal grandparents, Eliseo and Eloisa Marquez; paternal grandparents, Mauricio and Andrellita Martinez; special grandmother, Eloisa Marquez; uncles and aunts, Floyd and Marianita Jaramillo, Esquipula and Ruby Martinez, Mauricio Martinez, Jr, Ninfa Martinez (God-mother), Barolin and wife Juanita Duran; cousins, Jerry Duran, Jeanette Marquez and Alfred Maestas, Jr. Richard had a heart of gold, loving his family first and foremost. His grandma Marquez was his rock, standing by him even when he wasn’t particularly right. At an early age he showed signs of caring for his family, always wanting to help with any tasks that involved interaction with them and he thrived on that. His big eyes and vibrant smile lit up his face when he achieved something. Richard grew up in Española spending some time in Chimayo where his dad lived. He spent much time with grandma Marquez, a great love in his life. Richard attended school in the Española School District, worked varies odd jobs in the area, he will be greatly missed by those who crossed his path. The warm hugs will never be felt again, but his memory will never seize and the families love for him will never end.  Richard is survived by his God-daughter, Allaya; mother, Maryann and husband Seigio Mendez; father, Richard Martinez, Sr and wife Lillian; siblings, Jeremy (Tammy), Andrea (Drea) and husband Leroy Martinez, Eric (Gato) Deemy, Yvonne Gonzales (Joseph); step-sisters, Carolyn and Christine Bobbie Carrillo; soulmate, Veronica Martinez; special nephews and nieces, Destiny and companion Chris, Maria, Jeremy Jr., Maiden, Johnathon (JJ) whom wanted to be just like him, Angel and Jayden Martinez, Junior Martinez, Courtney Haskey Martinez and Antonio and Alicia Gonzales; special friends, Chris Owens and Destiney Mascareñas; many cousins of Martinez, Marquez, and Talamante origin; uncles and aunts, Leugarda Montoya, Catherine Martinez, Eliza Martinez, Nestor and Delia Martinez, Berna and Frank Talamante, Vicky and Alfred Maestas, Johnny and Theresa Marquez, Aldolfo and Annie Marquez, Ralph (God-father) and Ann Marquez. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jeremy, Johnathon, Jeremy Jr., Leroy (Porky) and Tino Martinez and Larry Archuleta. Honorary pallbearers named; Herbert Romero, Lucas Martinez, Gabriel Vigil, Ivan (Scrappy), Daniel Garcia and Eric (Gato) Deemy. The family of Richard M.
