Richard Joseph Janiak
January 20, 1944-June 19, 2023
Richard Joseph Janiak was born in Oak Park, Illinois to parents Gladys and Richard. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University. After graduation, he and his wife, Judith, relocated to Minnesota. They lived outside of Minneapolis until he retired and raised their family there. Richard was an exceptionally driven, hard-working individual who loved his job as a hydraulic sales engineer. He instilled his work-ethic upon his children and taught them to love the outdoors and respect the natural world. His extroverted nature was unique, as he easily connected with everyone he met.
Upon retirement, Richard and Judith moved to New Mexico, where he enjoyed volunteering at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center, and Rio Rancho Fishing Club. New adventures were a constant in Richard and Judith’s retired life. They thoroughly enjoyed exploring Europe, Mexico, Central and South America together.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judith; three children, Audra, David, and Tiffany; two grandchildren, Piper and Travis; and two sisters, Patricia and Susan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas.
