Richard - Age 36 - Velarde Martinez-Hice

Richard Martinez-Hice, 36, a resident of Velarde, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marcelino and Marina Martinez; brothers, Timothy, Joseph, and Mark Hice. Richard is survived by his mother, Berlinda Martinez-Hice and companion Gilbert Sanchez; children, Derek and Caitlin Hice; mother of his children, Veronica Quintana; brother, Anthony Hice, sister Melissa Gallegos and husband Leonard; nephews, Mark Jr., Joseph Jr., and Isaiah Hice, nieces, Canisha and Brittany Hice; aunt and uncle, Mela and Jose Monzon; close cousin, Andrea Sanchez; close friends, Johnny Padilla, Larry Vigil, Clovis Romero, Johnny “Juan” Garcia and Sebastian “Sabo” Garcia; many great nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Victory Faith Church in Española with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Johnny Padilla, Clovis Romero, Leonard Gallegos, Mark Hice, Jr., Tyler Sanchez, Isaiah Hice, Sabo Garcia, and A.J. San Juan. The family of Richard Martinez-Hice has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
