Richard - 88 - Truchas Maestas

Richard A. Maestas, 88, a resident of Truchas, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Richard was born on February 16, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurianna and Seferino Maestas; brothers; Joe, Henry, Manuel and Guadalupe, sister; Sophia. Richard served in the United States Army during World War II, then served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1976. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1978 to 1991. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Amelia Sandoval, children; Alan and wife Davina, Richard and wife Rosemary, Marie Maestas-Vigil, Cindy Maestas and Teofilo Vigil, grandchildren; Chris Vigil, Theresa Vigil, Stephen Vigil, Suzanne Maestas, Paul Maestas, John Maestas, Jessie Maestas, Maggie Maestas, Laura Maestas, Sarah Maestas, Robert Maestas and Ryan Maestas, great-grandchildren; Valerie Maestas, Rebecca Jourdan, Nathaniel Jourdan, Landon Maestas and Isabelle Vigil plus other loving friends and relatives. Public visitation will begin on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas with a burial to follow at the Los Llanitos with the following serving as pallbearers Robert Maestas, Ryan Maestas, Chris and Steve Vigil, Paul Maestas and John Maestas honorary pallbearers will be Jason Padgett, Cliff Vaz, Mark Lovato and Mike Jourdan. The family of Richard Maestas has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n \r\n \r\n
