Ricardo Sanchez

Our Beloved Brother and Uncle Ricardo Sanchez, 81, a long-time resident of La Villita passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020, following a brief illness. Ricardo was originally from Ojo Sarco, born to Pedro and Frutosa Sanchez on September 28, 1939.

Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Frutosa Sanchez, sisters LouAnn Sanchez and Maria Viola Sanchez McTeigue, brothers Dennis Sanchez and Wille Sanchez, sister-in-law Lydia Sanchez, brothers-in-law Melisendro Duran, Augustin Ulibarri and Jimmy McTeigue, nephews Andy Sanchez, Paul Duran, Melisendro Duran Jr., and Gene Duran, and his niece Elaine Sanchez.

Ricardo is survived by his sisters Eugenia Duran, Anita Ulibarri and Betty Espinoza, brother-in-law Manuel Espinoza, sister-in-law Carolina Sanchez, two close nieces Jolyn McTeigue and Doreen McTeigue-Garcia, many nieces and nephews, and many special Primos.

Ricardo dedicated thirty years of service to Los Alamos National Laboratory, starting as a laborer with Zia Company in 1963 and retiring as a Custodial Foreman in 1993. Ricardo had become blind from workplace exposures, but now he sees his Savior face to face.

Ricardo loved his family.  He enjoyed family gatherings, special occasions and holidays together. Ricardo enjoyed the outdoors.  He liked hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends.

Ricardo’s family would like to thank his Home Instead caregivers and his nurse for adding to his quality of life.

The family would like to express gratitude for the heartfelt condolences received.  We will announce services for our loved one as restrictions are removed. A rosary will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a Memorial mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Santo Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Ojo Sarco.
