With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rick Romero, who peacefully departed on August 6th, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by loved ones sharing stories and cherished memories, Rick left behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and a wealth of knowledge that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Born on September 1st, 1953, in Nambe, NM, Rick grew up embodying the values of hard work and dedication, always willing to go the extra mile for those he loved. His 40-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory was a testament to his commitment and work ethic. Rick was an active member of the community and church, and a member of the La Sociedad del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

Beyond his professional life, Rick was a beacon of wisdom, love, and generosity. His presence touched the lives of everyone he encountered, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rick had a deep passion for golf, music, the ocean, his beloved 49ers, and, above all, his family.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Teresina and Luis Romero; his in-laws, Frank and Tonie Cordova; his nephew Ken Ortiz, his uncle Ponce Lujan, and aunts Delia Roybal and Patsy Montoya.

Rick was a beloved husband, father, papa, nino, uncle, brother, cousin, coach and friend. 

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn; his three sons, Ricardo (Crystal), Joey, and Cris; his grandchildren, Myriah, Ava, Xadriyanna, Jaxon, and Katelynn (Bryce); his sister, who was like a mother, Bernie (Sandy); his sister in law Francie (James); his goddaughters, Christianna and Adiana; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rick was an extraordinary person, both inside and out. He embodied the values of hard work and strength, serving as an inspiration to all who knew him. His memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to share in his life. Thank you, Rick, for the memories you left behind. You will forever remain in our hearts.

A Rosary will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, NM, with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.
