RICARDO MARTIN MARTINEZ "CARDO", 32, our hearts are broken as we share the sudden and unexpected death from a brief illness of our amazing son.  Ricardo, a resident of Española, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2017. Ricardo was born to Martin and Florence Martinez, June 22, 1985 in Tucson, Arizona.  Ricardo was long anticipated and ultimately spoiled by his sister Camille and brother Albert.  Ricardo graduated from Espanola High in 2003, went on to UNM, obtained his bachelor's degree in  Mechanical Engineering in 2011, Ricardo then earned his Master's in Science Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and  became employed at LANL (MPA-11) Material Physics and Applied Engineering, he helped organize  R&D Engineers Dept.  Ricardo was described as a hard worker and everyone could depend on him to unquestionably get a job done.   He was so full of life, loved having fun and enjoyed life to its fullest. Ricardo expressed love of family, and was a loyal Cowboys fan!!   He loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid skier.
Cardo is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alberto C. Rodriguez, and Emijirio Martinez;  grandmother, Dolores and Samuel Martinez; aunt, Evelyn Weber; uncles, Gary Weber, Delfin  E. Martinez, and Eppie Tapia; cousins, Kelly Ann Martinez, and Delfin  P. Martinez.
Ricardo is survived by his father, Martin M. Martinez; mother, Florence and Michael Martinez, all of Espanola; siblings, Camille Martinez of Albuquerque, Albert Martinez and Germel, Veronica and Leonard Martinez, all of Espanola, and Miguel and wife Shantelle of Rio Rancho; nephew and nieces; Aaron and Zoe, of Albuquerque, Danielle, Leticia, Heavyn Leigh, and Lucas of Espanola, Amaya Martinez of Rio Rancho, Zilthai, Zerahiah, and Nissi Segovia of Espanola.  Ricardo is survived by his beloved grandmother, Eloisa Rodriguez of Espanola; aunts, Margaret Tapia and Dennis Salazar of Espanola, Laura and husband Marcelo Montoya, of Albuquerque, Rosalie Lovato and husband Albert, Sandra Martinez and husband Patrick, David Rodriguez and wife Lorraine, Anthony Rodriguez and wife Tamara, all of Espanola, Lee Rodriguez and wife Lori, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Liza Przyllas, Umelia Martinez, Kathy and Albert Mondragon, and Doris Martinez, all of Espanola.  He is also survived by numerous loved cousins.
We would like to thank Andrew Martin Dattelbaum, Regina Lujan, Dr Bron Cheek, Amassa Williams, and Jaime Neeley for their support and being a part of our son's life.
Public visitation will begin on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, with burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde. Carrying Ricardo to his final resting place will be his nephew, Aaron Sean Lewis, brothers, Miguel Martinez and Leonard Martinez, cousin, Christopher Martinez, childhood and good friends, Scott Guinn and Eric Martinez.
