Reymundo Maes

Reymundo A. Maes, 86, a resident of Española, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Rufinita Maes of Cebolla, N.M.; son, Leroy Maes and wife Eloisa T. Maes; brothers, David, Henry, Herman Maes and brother-in-law, Gilberto Martinez. Mr. Maes was a very active man in which he enjoyed helping people in need. He was an avid rancher, sheep herder and logger. He was also an active member with the Penitentes of Canjilon. Mr. Maes is survived by his daughters, Rae Maes, Lourdes Fay (Wes) and Teresa Mael (Brad); son, Manuel Trujillo (Theresa); brothers, Lee Maes (Estefanita), Antonio Maes (Starla), Ernest Maes (Della), Pete Maes and Roberto (Consuelo); sister, Regina Martinez, 5 grandchildren Joshua Trujillo (Leslie), Jesse Trujillo (Jordyn), Anna Barrier (David), Tyler Mael (Courtney), Darin Mael (Shellby-Tunnel) , 2 great-grandchildren are Brynlee Barrier, and Joe Jaxton Trujillo, and other numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A second rosary will be recited on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Santo Niño Catholic Church in Cebolla with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Cebolla Cemetery. The family of Reymundo A. Maes has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
