\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Reyes Martinez, 72, a resident of Chimayo passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Cleofas Martinez; brothers, Rafael and Christobal Martinez; father and mother-in-law, Alfredo and Maggie Romero; and brother-in-law Mauricio. Reyes was a Miner for 18 years for Kerr-McGee and retired from Johnson Controls as a Laborer. He enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles, was an avid wood worker, loved animals, and most of all loved and treasured his family. Reyes is survived by his wife, Viola Martinez; his children, Ralph, Darlene and Rudy, Matthew and wife Dorothy, Johnny, Donna, and Steve and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Savannah, Angelique, Victoria, Adrien, Christopher, Stephanie, Matthew Jr., and Autumn; sister and brother, Eliza Martinez, Edumenio and wife Ilean, and Amelia Martinez; nephews and niece, Paul and Jerry Martinez, and Carla Abeyta; good friends, Charles Uitts, Ernesto Chavez, and many other nephews, nieces, and relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory; a devotional service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, February 12th at 10:00 a.m. at DeVargas Funeral Home. Burial will take place at El Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Ralph, Johnny Steve, Paul, and Christopher Martinez, Charles Uitts, and Nathaniel Montoya.
