\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n REMIGIO SANCHEZ, 87, a resident of Española, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents,Miguel and Elena Sanchez; son, Floyd Sanchez; granddaughters, Tonya and Lori Sanchez and son-in-law, Anthony Griego. He loved the outdoors and hunting. He was a gentle husband, father, and loving grandfather and great-grandfather and brother. He missed his hometown of Gallina very much and will be dearly missed. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife of 59 years, Isabel Sanchez of Española; children, Mike Sanchez and wife Maggie of Albuquerque, Delbert Sanchez and friend Maria of Rio Chiquito, Elaine Archuleta and husband Florencio of Española, Beatrice Griego of Española, Ruth Holiday and husband Mike of Española, Darlene Cole and husband Travis of California, Connie Sanchez and companion Raymond of Coyote and Karen Sanchez and companion Danny Archuleta of Lyden; brother, Pascual Sanchez of Española; sister, Pauline Jacquez of Gallina; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. The Sanchez family would like to thank the Española Hospital Staff and Kindred Hospital in Albuquerque for their wonderful care they gave Remigio. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 6:00 p.m. A second devotional service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the New Hope Church in El Llano. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. also at New Hope Church in El Llano. Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Jeremy Sanchez, Cody Sanchez, Dominic Tafoya, Eric Wiese, Justin Cole and Steve Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are, Nathan Tafoya, Danny Archuleta and Aaron Sanchez. The Sanchez family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. \r\n
