Rebecca Pena

Rebecca Pena, 100, a resident of La Madera, was called to her celestial home on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Rebecca was born on April 8, 1918, to Presciliana Montoya and Vitor Ortega. She is preceded in death by her husband, Celestino in 1989, her son, Victor, and grandson, Juanito Cordova; her brothers Albino, Carlos and David Ortega, and her sister Ofelia Jaramillo. Surviving her are her daughter, Bennie Fernandez of Truchas, son Frutoso Peña of La Madera, a niece she helped raise, Marge Koch of Arizona, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.  Also surviving her are her sister-in-law, Noyola Loomis of Albuquerque, and brothers-in-law, Isaias, Elizardo, Elmo and Lamos Peña, of Grants, NM. Public visitation will be on Tuesday October 16th, 2018 in the Sangre De Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with rosary to follow at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday October 17th 2018 at 11am at the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with burial to follow at the Catholic Cemetery in her beloved La Madera. Serving as pallbearers are her seven grandchildren.
