RAPHAEL ALONZO (LONNY) MONTAÑO, 90, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his son, Lonny Montaño; mother, Eufemia Montaño; brothers, Robert Luke and Augustine Montaño and sister, Celina Vigil. Mr. Montaño was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Army serving under General Patton with recipient of the Bronze Star and numerous other military awards. He retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory after over 25 years of service. He owned and operated Taña’s kitchen in Española, Los Alamos and Albuquerque along with his wife. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Montaño is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Montaño; children, Dolores La Flamme and husband Ed, Frances Wood all of Los Alamos and Clara Montaño-Smith and husband Jim of Elephant Butte; grandchildren, Taña Lee and husband Michael of Georgia, Tuhy Mills, Cisco Wood, Lonny Wood, Antonio Wood all of Los Alamos and Damian Montaño of Virginia; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. A service of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Graveside service to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
