Randy Maestas, 51, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vidal and Elicia Maestas; sister, Beverlie Maestas; uncles, Vidal Maestas, Rubel Maestas, Toby Montaño, Freddy Archuleta and Wilfred Salazar; aunt, Teresa Maestas; father-in-law, Pastor Elias Valdez; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Valdez and Patrick Martinez; sister-in-law, Margaret Watson. Randy is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Maestas of Alcalde; children, Randy Maestas, Jr. of Albuquerque and Joel Montoya of Alcalde; grandchildren, Zamara and Nadia Montoya; mother, Caroline Maestas of Santa Fe; sisters, Alice Garcia of Santa Fe, Debbie Maes (Kenneth) of San Juan, Antoinette Montoya (Kierste) of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Larry Maestas (Phyllisa) of Santa Fe; uncle, Bernie Maestas of Tierra Azul; aunts, Lydia Montaño of Albuquerque, Anita Salazar of Hernandez, Flora Garcia (Leroy) of Abiquiu, Corrine Romero (Phil) of Santa Fe, Jennie Archuleta of Albuquerque, Rosalie Maestas of Chimayo, Irene Maestas of Nambe, Emelia Chavez and Rosalie Handrahan of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Angelina Montoya of Alcalde; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Valdez of Alcalde and David Martinez (Marie) of Alcalde; God-children, Jordan Valdez, Matthew Barela, Kasey Anne Valdez and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Alcalde Catholic Cemetery. The family of Randy Maestas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
